I grew up running through the trees. My first memories are following the deer paths in Waskesiu with my sisters, and never seeming to lose ourselves. I can always conjure the smell of the forest floor and the dampened sounds of life all around us. We were wild and free in all the best possible ways.

Shinrin-yoku is the Japanese practice of forest bathing. It has been found to relieve stress and reconnect us to the land. Forest bathing also connects me to the voice of God. He whispers to me through trembling aspens and calls my name in the wind. When I find myself in the trees, I’m once again the little girl following the voice of the One who spoke it all to life.
